The concept for the school in Lonate Ceppino stems from the wish to create a building in open dialogue with nature, blending architecture with its surroundings to create a true forest school, a park school. Architecture becomes the first teaching tool for experiencing and understanding the surrounding landscape. Imagining a school set in a wood, in a park, is the idea that shaped the project: creating spaces in constant contact with nature and building a way of teaching consciously aimed at respect for the environment is a cornerstone of the proposal. The main building, surrounded by trees and lawns, is used not only by pupils and teachers: local people can also enjoy it by walking up onto the flat roofs. In this way the school is lived in by everyone, creating constant, stimulating relationships between people.
